The Atlantic is seeking an experienced, ambitious journalist to be based in London as a staff writer.
This journalist will be part of a growing international team, with reporters and editors currently based in London, Paris and Washington, D.C., and will cover global affairs. As part of The Atlantic’s mission, the journalist will produce stories that explain the forces reshaping foreign affairs and democracy worldwide, concentrating on populism, migration and the fraying of the post-war order.
The journalist will focus on Britain, covering topics ranging from the country’s tumultuous politics to its changing society, as well as its shifting role in Europe. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, able to conceive of and execute a wide range of pieces in different formats; a curious mind, who wants to write more than just narrow political stories, but ones that cross into culture, economics and sports; and a writer who is comfortable with varying publishing schedules, able to turn around a story in short order when not working on longer-term enterprise.
