Membership Growth Marketing Director

Join our team to help refine and scale Quartz’s newly launched membership offering.

We're looking for a data-driven paid acquisition expert with experience optimizing user conversion flows from ad to payment page, testing new channels and campaigns, writing top performing copy and managing design choices for ads.

You should have proven experience turning passive visitors into paying members, be very comfortable analyzing data and turning it into actionable insights, and not be above in-the-weeds execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on a subscription product (it doesn’t have to be media) and have excellent copywriting skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all paid acquisition for Quartz Membership
  • Identify new opportunities to acquire members while consistently lowering CAC by:
  • Identifying new paid acquisition channels, researching case studies an prioritizing opportunities
  • Brainstorming new campaign ideas based on data, customer feedback and new membership features
  • Producing and optimizing copy and creative (with the help of a designer) Writing and optimizing copy
  • Ensuring retention rates and LTV for acquired users closely tracks with rates for organic users
  • Working closely with analytics to understand complex data and turning findings into actionable insights and strategies
  • Managing and perfecting all copywriting across emails and marketing pages as needed
  • Helping define membership OKRs each quarter and proactively track progress towards our acquisition goals
  • Prioritizing, managing and executing a/b tests to improve conversion rates
  • Managing day-to-day communication with 3rd party vendors and partners
  • Compiling weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to turn performance marketing data into meaningful insights

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of growth / paid acquisition / performance marketing experience
  • A track record of leading and executing high ROI growth with experience in at least 2 of these channels: search, social, programmatic, ad networks, OOH, podcasts
  • Is a self-starter and highly dependable
  • Fluent in Google Analytics and Excel (graphs, formulas, etc.) and passionate about funnel optimization
  • Collaborative, respectful, enthusiastic, creative
  • A solid grasp of the membership landscape
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • MBA or management consulting experience considered a plus
