Quartz is looking for a video journalist eager to experiment with visual storytelling across multiple platforms.
Our ideal candidate has strong journalistic instincts, global experience, and an eye for smart, interesting—often counterintuitive—stories. We’re looking for reporters who will produce, shoot, and edit, and have a strong grasp of narrative with the writing skills to execute their vision.
This journalist will join a highly collaborative team with a mandate to pursue stories best told in video. We are looking for someone with an obsessive interest in global news and current affairs and a compulsion to find the most original, creative approaches to tackling the stories they’re truly passionate about.
Quartz expects its journalists to understand what distinguishes a YouTube video from one that runs on Facebook or Instagram, and who can use that knowledge to help the strongest stories reach the largest audience.
This is a role for someone who loves Quartz’s video storytelling, is excited about experimentation and tinkering, and adept at multitasking. Developing new digital video forms—and empowering others to use them, as well—is a key challenge.
You should be adept with Premiere. After Effects knowledge is a bonus. Experience working outside the US and knowledge of languages other than English are a plus. This role is based in New York.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant work.
