Quartz seeks a reporter to write about the fast developing business and geopolitical stories from across the region, offering context and insight. You might be assessing the economic impact of China’s millennials, analyzing the body language at the next Trump-Kim summit, exploring the regional nuances of China’s maneuvers in the South China Sea, or charting the might of a large regional company like Ant Financial or Softbank. Underlying your coverage will be an appreciation for the advances and setbacks faced by Chinese companies trying to become truly global ones.
This reporter will also contribute frequently to the European edition of our flagship newsletter, the Daily Brief, and will at times collaborate with the bureau’s technology reporter on covering major tech stories.
Based in Hong Kong, you will be part of the growing Quartz team worldwide, and help shape our efforts to take a bracingly creative approach to covering business news within a global context.
The successful candidate will have:
The reporter should be excited about the opportunity to write across a range of formats other than 700-word articles (such as shorter pieces, photos, charts, and at times, more ambitious pieces).
Proficiency in an Asian language is strongly preferred for the role.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant work. The links matter most.
