Senior Manager of Operations, Events

Government Executive Media Group (GEMG) is the public sector division of Atlantic Media and the leading media resource serving the government and defense market.

​GEMG Events seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and service-minded professional to lead, manage and strategically develop event business opportunities as the Senior Manager of Operations. Key responsibilities will include contributing to the growth, development and execution of GEMG’s event strategy, leadership and management of the operations arm of the team, budget and financial management of event expenses, client management through outstanding customer service, and oversight of all aspects of event delivery. Our ideal candidate will have 5 - 7 years previous of event management experience, preferably in a high-velocity, client-focused industry.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Vice President and other senior leaders within and outside of GEMG to develop successful event programs that build audiences, raise brand awareness, and grow revenue
  • Flexibility and ability to manage  multiple events and projects at once
  • Manage the event operational lifecycle and the strategic development of event processes and execution
  • Manage the event operations team on all aspects of event management through check-ins, feedback, trainings, performance tracking and ongoing guidance and support
  • Oversee event experience design for events  to deliver compelling event experiences
  • Understand, develop, and facilitate best practices in the meeting and event industry
  • Develop and facilitate Vendor selection strategy and negotiation tools and templates
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes, tools, and templates for event execution
  • Continually work with internal teams to identify and introduce innovations that enhance event outcomes, profitability, productivity and efficiency
  • Drive operational, project, and fiscal management practices that produce desired results
  • Develop forecasts, manage and track performance against event budgets, address and resolve issues related to financial performance
  • CMP preferred
