Head of Growth Marketing

Quartz seeks a head of growth marketing to join Quartz’s expanding growth team. We prefer candidates in New York, where our headquarters are located, but are open to applications from people elsewhere.

The ideal candidate is a natural leader and team player with sharp strategic skills who will build, manage, and mentor a new team of growth marketing professionals. This is an integral role that will help merge our efforts to grow Quartz’s overall audience with our need to deepen our relationship with existing users. The role requires expertise in social media, SEO, and product marketing, along with an appetite for trying and evaluating new things. This role reports to Quartz’s director of growth.

The head of growth marketing will:

  • Manage a team of growth marketing professionals and oversee all efforts related to growth of Quartz’s audience beyond topline readers on QZ.com. That includes email growth and retention, special projects, paid marketing.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams like product management, analytics, special projects, and Quartz Creative to ensure growth and user-acquisition campaigns are executed on time, within budget, and in line with Quartz’s high standards.
  • Prepare and deliver reports at regular intervals for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the editorial arm of Quartz’s growth team to ensure new readers and users are converted to loyal Quartz fans.
  • Foster exploration of new marketing channels by working closely with platform experts to implement tests and scaling tactics.
  • Provide constructive feedback to content, creative, and product teams to ensure continued improvement to quality and output.

About you:

  • You are growth-minded and have analytical abilities.
  • You have a natural fascination around all things related to the new global economy, particularly the effect of tech on daily life around the globe.
  • You have seven or more years of experience in a digital marketing or media environment with a proven track record of driving user growth to digital properties.
  • Management experience is a must.
