Performance Analyst, Sponsor Content, Atlantic Re:think

The Atlantic is seeking a Performance Analyst to join Atlantic Re:think in the New York office. Atlantic Re:think, launched 4 years ago, is The Atlantic’s award-winning sponsor content studio. The Performance Analyst will help define and track key performance indicators and generate insights for Sponsor Content performance on as well as outside our traditional owned platforms, including Facebook, Apple News, and Google AMP.  

The analyst will serve as a strategic consultant and expert for our sponsor content solutions: what story themes and formats are most engaging, and what is the best way to share our stories and attract new audiences.

This role will work cross-functionally with sales, revenue operations and data & insights teams and use various analysis and measurement tools to provide timely in-depth reporting, analysis and optimizing solutions. This role will actively participate in the business, consistently engaging, and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit our major clients. This role reports to Director, Creative Solutions.


Responsibilities include:

  • Define KPI goals for sponsor content products and oversee development of a framework for measurement methodology for all sponsor content programs
  • Identify best practices for sponsor content and present insights and recommendations to sales and marketing, and creative content teams
  • Work closely with Atlantic Re:think pre-sale teams to inform the ideation phase of client programs with audience insights and content best practices
  • Actively partner with Atlantic Re:think producers, designers and writers to review work in development and make recommendations for improved performance.
  • Take leading role on performance analysis for key client campaign recaps; advise Sales and Marketing on unique strengths and potential improvements for evolution of the campaign and help develop recommendations for renewals.
  • Utilize proprietary tools and third party technologies, site analytics tools and databases to understand and analyze sponsor content data
  • Advocate for Re:think measurement needs-- ensuring correct tools in place, measurements being reported (ie, time-spent shift from Omniture to GA)
  • Work with Audience team and 3rd party tools to identify audience insights for sponsor content
  • Develop and advocate for distribution strategy using internal and external methods
  • Lead partnership with external paid-distribution vendors, including monitor pricing and performance, advise on platforms to utilize, monitor and socialize any policy changes
  • Attend client meetings to review best practices and campaign performance insights
  • Work with internal stakeholders on page design/placement to improve performance of internal traffic/promotion of sponsor content; develop new strategies and monitor and report on challenges and opportunities


Key Skills:

  • Passion for journalism and the diverse, engaging stories of The Atlantic
  • Familiarity with branded content, custom content, or native advertising content creation
  • Fluency and a working understanding of analytic measurement platforms; experience working with Google Analytics is a plus
  • A demonstrated ability to distill data into logical analysis, insights and actionable recommendations in straightforward and simple language
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with cross-functional groups
